Logistics & Move Management

Knowledge of the intricacies of design, engineering and construction is in our "bones."  After all, our parent company is Kitchell, a construction company (and more).

We understand the critical link between procurement and construction needs. Sophisticated functions (surgical suites, digital diagnostic imaging, catheterization labs, etc.) require coordination among different groups: the design team, contractor, subcontractor and vendors. FDI’s managers, schedulers, construction personnel, MEP engineers, and others, provide support and relief to your facility’s already over-worked materials-management staff.

FDI evaluates construction schedules in tandem with the owner fit-up schedule, clinical staff training, bio-medical engineering, etc. to determine the most efficient method to schedule the delivery of equipment.

Equipment Scheduling

FDI evaluates construction schedules in tandem with the owner fit-up schedule, clinical staff training, bio-medical engineering, etc. to determine the most efficient method to schedule the efficient equipment delivery.

M/E/P Coordination

FDI can immediately identify medical equipment that will touch the infrastructure of the building and will work closely with the general contractor to establish the precise MEP requirements of the equipment long before it arrives on site.

Move Vendor Coordination & Vendor Management

Your staff have full-time jobs. They don’t have time to dive into the minutiae of vendor coordination. FDI is the liaison between staff and vendors. We will develop a comprehensive master relocation plan (micro-move schedule), integrating the move management tasks with each department move schedule to provide a disciplined approach to planning, implementation and coordination of all relocation activities. For example, FDI will:

• Supervise the moving company ensuring all established policies and procedures are followed

• Verify that proper procedures are followed for labeling furnishings, equipment and contents to be relocated, as well as building protection

• Supervise the activities of the commercial mover and be available to answer questions and troubleshoot problems

• Monitor and ensure the compliance of all vendor installations

Equipment Placement/Installation

FDI's Equipment Placement and Installation services include the management, scheduling and oversight of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of distinct initiatives, from ensuring items are delivered to their final locations fully assembled, to debris removal and the initiation of damaged shipment returns and much more. FDI ensures the right equipment is where it is supposed to be and funcation, building ample time into the schedule to correct issues that may—and often do—arise.

Move Sequence Analysis

Before any move can take place, FDI creates a project-specific move sequence plan incorporating move sequence interviews with managers from relocating departments and additional stakeholders (e.g. support services, ancillary departments) and then works side-by-side with chosen movers to coordinate sequences and schedules.
